Bought a pair of Motobatt-MBTX7U gel batteries for my SB6 off t.bay and, surprise surprise, they don't fit.
Even with the foam padding removed from the carriers, the batteries are approx 3 - 4 mm too big.
Has anyone fitted these batteries to their bike? And if so, how so? _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

I fitted Yuasa batteries to mine without a problem... YTX7L-BS
Dimensions according to the website are.... 114mm x 71mm x 131mm
I've never used motobatt batteries, but I would have thought all batteries with the same code would be the same size? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I had a pair of those in the SB6 - maybe I'm more determined than you
Maybe try putting the closing brackets inside the subframe ? _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

well - it transpires that a previous owner had "modified" the battery holders to take the tiny Soraichi batteries that came with the bike. We have re-modified the holders to accept the Motobatt's and all is now well in that department.
Have also had to resort to gluing the headlamp bulb holders together as they had disintegrated with age - a common problem it seems.
Awaiting new front brake line kit then it's off for an MOT and out on the roads (if we get any decent weather here on the NE coast) _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

Good news Gaz. My bulb holders are still in good nic (so far), most likely due to low mileage on the bike _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Didn't I read on here somewhere about another common source for these ? Think it was Katy that posted it. |

jatexup posted this link (and thanks for this) to Aprilia AF1 50 lights
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/APRILIA-DOUBLE-HEADLIGHT-FOR-AF1-50/142170707854?hash=item211a08d78e:g:YCcAAMXQdm5Q-w26
and I searched the web, and Aprilia parts vendors, for the CEV bulb holders but to no avail. I may purchase a set of lights just to fill a gap on one of my garage shelves............. _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

I've just ordered 2 lithium Ion batteries, since nobody seems to be talking about them as an option at all I guess I'm the guinea pig. The weight saving alone, plus the 150 CCA seems to be pretty attractive as well as the longevity.
Hoping I haven't screwed up

I was thinking about this but when I bought one (the right size) the terminals were in the wrong place. Interesting you bought 2 I was thinking 1 would do the job.
At the moment I have ordinary sealed type, I use a DC optimate and a caravan battery on a cheap sack trolley _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I've thought about using a single lithium battery in my SB6 as well, but last time i ended up just replacing with 2 maint free batteries.
The thing that still puts me off lithium batteries their high cost and suseptability to overcharging. I had a lithium battery in my race bike and the regulator died which cooked the battery. The lithium battery continued to 'grow' until it was almost double the original size. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I'm a little worried about the inability to be able to remove the battery from the SB6 in a hurry if need be. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

It does look like a sod of a job to replace the batteries, is there a technique to it or you just have to strip down the whole front end to get at it? Any pain saving advice will be welcomed _________________ Greg

It’s not too bad once you get the top fairing off. The ends of the battery box can be unbolted and slide a battery out from each side.
Worst part is getting the fairing off _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I use an Abba front lift under the exhaust pipes. Once the front is raised you can get the fairing off or drop out the front wheel if you want even easier.
Abba don't make the front lift anymore but you should find one on ebay. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
