2bims that is great information.
I also did a vin # check on the YB8 and found out that the mileage on the bike isn't correct either. The odometer reads 4500+ mileage, but when the new owner( possibly 2nd or 3rd owner) registered it in NY. The odometer reading was 9000 miles. Lee, I totally missed the damage to the swing arm. I guess I get caught up by the variety of bikes at auction and don't look at the details. That's kind of distressing about the mileage, but there are sellers out there like that. I have to re-set my trust level when it comes to auctions. As they say, caveat emptor - you can only see the bike at auction, but can't hear it run. so when you bring it home from the auction - surprise!
While auctions do present a chance to see/pick from a lot of choices in one place, there are reasons to be more cautious than when buying one-on-one directly from the owner.
There are deals, and then sometimes not.
