Not seen one of these puppies before....CRMO frame replaced with carbon...and the same with the swingarm

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/bimota/bimota_db6_superlight.htm

BR Bikeresearch is responsible for helping Bimota mate the carbon fiber trellis to its machined aluminum subframe, anyone heard of them?

Sure is an expensive piece of art as frame and swingarm are in carbon...but matching the old frame.....would prefer it in high gloss though as opposed to that matt black finish

Says that the front forks are merely clad in Carbon though...which looks to be the case as even the lower hand billet machined lower yoke has a one piece integral to the forks carbon cladding which is very non bimota....as Bimota only add carbon as a replacement and not as a cover for something else...so essentially is adding weight for no purpose....but then If it had green anodised Marzocchi forks...I can understand the reason behind it.......Smile

Piccie seems to be inside a bimota dealer...with leaflets and a DB8 in white in the background.........looks like the rear end cover is carbon also...although sprayed white...as they havent bothered to cut out the mesh vents and infill them...and its fitted with Brembo coffin box brake and clutch masters...most odd.........

And a few close-up photos for anyone interested...was apparently shown at some motorbike show in Italy in 2010? So presumably a "thought" that has long since dissappeared.......wouldnt mind having the one and only though.......piccie at end of spec and weight and it was "Price unknown"....

I guess we're talking about an alloy frame here which is "dipped" to impart a "carbon-look"?

They are producers of DB7/8 Oronero frames for Bimota... but nice find... didn't know about that one. Quite interesting...

No, all carbon like the DB7 one , think they us a foam mandrel to wrap it around like a push bike frame.

Is there any difference between the DB5 and DB6 frame and swing arm?

Don't think so, think all the difference is in the seat frame, but then the DB3 and DB4 frames are different around the seat frame mounts even though they look the same , and looking closer at it the 5 and 6 are different on the machined plate sides as as db5 is solid and the db6 has cut outs. the same on the swing arm machined parts. Also the seat frame mount is lower on the machining on the db6 with fixed foot pegs.
But hopefully the carbon bit is the same. Why djt, have you found a carbon frame for sale ????? That would be lovely !!!!

Havent thrown a tape measure over both to compare....but essentially the same main frame and swing arm.....The Ergal plates on the main frame and rear drop outs are "solid" though on the DB5...whereas on the DB6 they are cut through to give "holes" rather than just recesses.Other than that the Db6 being a "naked" bike has a few extra tangs welded on to hold Oil coller lines and a couple of infll panels to hide switchgear, electrics etc

The ergal engine plates also have tabs in different locations for the rear brake master...fixed to the plates on the DB6....fixed to the engine on the DB5...
