No, not really, having them garaged and being an old F**ka helps, but mainly coz they are all on a Footman James MultiClassic Policy.. Less than 600squid all in, and that includes a few others also, with girlie insured on all, european cover, unlimited mileage, breakdown , legal etc. Just have to ensure that at least 50% of all bikes are Classics, i.e. over 15 years old, or for Bimotas, over 10 YEars old Laughing Well recommended

Very nice 2bims! Yes, yes, more pics of that beautiful 'naked' db1 would be nice Wink .

Nice line up of tricolour db's there... db1, db2, ... , db4, db5. shame the db3 never came in tricolour. You may have to get a custom paint job when you fill in the blank spot in the lineup Laughing

No offence to others out there, and although I never say Never....This is the exception to the rule whereby Never is never

looks a great buy Steve
ali tanks and carbs are very nice features.
There are some 16" Metzeler tires that fit on the rims- seen them often on Montjuichs and F1s, but 17ers would be nice, didn't the SR have them?

Cheers Ian, its hard to say what the SR came with, the Bible doesn't reference wheel sies, althought they did change from their own make wheels to Marvic Mag 3 spokes and ally rims, and seen lots of archive piccies of MArvic five spokes, and yet still retaining the same front discs, forks and swinging arm. Any help with finding suitable 16 inch Metzelers though would be grand, not had a proper search yet, just a fair few folk saying how "unobtainable" they are. Never held me back in the ppast though, getting the Db1 was the hard part, should at least be flat or downhill from here on Laughing

Hello 2Bims,

the SR came with 16" wheels front and rear-if I could find a front one I'd probably fit it. Good luck with the search for Metzelers, if you can find 'em cheap I'll have a pair!

Cheers, MikeJ

P.S. Gibsons did a good exhaust for my YB9 racer, so if you're looking for a 2-1 it might be worth checking with them.

Will do mike, are you missing a frontrunner wheel then? I'm seeing someone next weekend that has somedb1 spares, that includes a front wheel, same as on the db1 and db1s. If you are interested?

Great pics of a sweet collection, 2bims. More like "4bims". All that R/W/G - love it.

Curious - which countries received DB1s with ally fuel cells? England, Germany,...?

Thanks,
Adam

Cheers Adam, the "tricolor" is a bit of a them of mine, and the Db1 was the last one I thought I'd get, but didn't think I'd get the oppurtunity, there was one in US of A last year, but he removed bidders from outside of the US, wanted it to stay in the states, or just didnt like anyone not American...who knows.

Re ally fuel tank and Ally crankcase breather (also acts as airbox but mine runs open bellmouth flatslide Mikunis) , as far as I'm aware only the first few production runs of some of the DB1's had them, and they switched to plastic moulded later to save costs, and all DB1S and DB1SR's were also to have plastic tanks. Not such an issue either way, as neither rust, and not seen except through the side fairing vents, but a nice to have in my opinion when you life the seat/tank unit off... Laughing Evidently some countries wouldn't/didnt allow plastic tanks, but reckon that Bimota always ignored that one, as did some other manufacturers...

Had a look at the rear light unit, compared to Ducati 600/750/900/superlight units from 1991 to 1997, and whilst they arent exactly the same, only if 2 were sat beside each other would you know, Duc unit is around 3mm narrower on the width and a slightly different more inclined slant on the reflector face. Both have the clear transparent number plate panel underneath and I'd certainly use one if I couldnt get an original....

He was probably worried about scams from outside the US. I think, if the check clears the check clears but I'm sure he had his reasons. Was it the one that came with additional SR bodywork (Serie Finale bodywork)? Nice kit, that was.

I guess toady's fuel (ethanol content increasing here in the states) is melting the original plastic tanks unless lined. Oh boy! (Glad I found an ally one, it's not pretty but it shouldn't melt anytime soon.)

What was the width of the original lens? I might make that "desmo" decal. Thanks for your help!
