package arrived today. Just took some picture to ensure the holes are at the right distance and the leght of brass pin is correct:
compared to the destroyed one:
checking the holes with the base still on the tank:
the only difference seems to be the electric connector, not a real problem... _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

I bought one of those for the DB2, the plastic float is a bigger diameter- I opened out the hole in the tank another mm, then filed down the float until it fit through.
Apart from that, seems ok- haven't run out of petrol since I fitted it : )

ready to reinstall the engine on the frame. Or I would better say viceversa as I will fit the frame on the engine...
any suggestion or photo about electric wires connections to avoid a do-redo work?
I've done some picture while I took off the engine, but I think I will surely miss some trick (for exemple to connect the power cable and bleed the clutch before fitting the engine...).
yesterday I've assembled the collant path around the engine and then I saw
the arrow on the thermostat pointing in the wrong direction
check, check and check again... _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

You've spotted the MOST important thing.....
Make sure the clutch is bled and working BEFORE you re-unite the engine and frame
most other things can be re-done and fiddled about with later _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

The two wires from the alternator are (I think black and green) they DO NOT connect to the Black and Green of the Bimota loom. Those go to the spark generator on the end of the crank. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I know, we could have waited until the "My bike don't start" thread but I thought I'd tell him beforehand _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I'm sure I took note of the wires color connections... but I can't find that sheet...
thanks, maybe I will not post the "don't start" thread... but surely will be an "am I missing something?" one.... _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

engine on.
quite hard to fit the frame... the rear double bolts on the engine head that hold the frame were hard to tighten...but then they went in place....
now I'm struggling with the sidestand that don't want to go. I've read the Oily's suggestion to fit it before tightening the upper mounting bolt, but it's still too tight.
I'll take some picture so if you'll notice some mistake....
(I'm a bit ashamed as I didn't choose the SAMCO kit color: it came with a nice purple that gives a gay touch to the bike ) _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

...Don't worry Marco, I'm sure we all understand that gay's need their own colour
Tight frame?...GENTLY use large screwdrivers as wedges. Has your bike ever been crashed? I've had some that have been very tight and some where you could throw the engine in. I presume these frames were welded on a jig but they will still only be as consistent as the welder that fitted/removed them.
My first SB6 had such a big gap on the lower rear mounting that when tightening, I snapped the frame lug on the opposite side to the swing-arm
I'm not going to mention the cavalier attitude of Italian engineers to you
...Look forward to the pictures _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

wondering why trying to understand the "stick it in and jiggle it "... I typed on google and I was linked to Youporn...
Anyway finally I sorted out.
Engine on, now waiting for Wemoto's package (carbs main jets) and I'll be ready to close the pack
I did not took off the oil pan. Would it be a nice thing to look inside the baby and clean it? so stupid question... at the point you are, do it... right? _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |
