Yes its official Heard today, the newest and Nearest Bimota Retailer, with a store, service dept, links to Factory, a New Db7 and Db8 in stock, possible Test rides, see and try before you buy.......Can you believe that?? A first in the UK for what 10 Years????

What more can we hope for??? Spares availability? Feedback? Warranties???

And Guess what? Not affiliated with Tractors or Chinese scooters....But......

http://www.ducatistore.co.uk/ducati_lancashire.shtml

Website being updated, and no I don't get kickbacks or Commission, but after feeding 4 Bimotas through Ducati Manchester for various issues over the last 3 years, and the patience of their Parts Dept, their affiliated Preston Branch is to stock and Sell NEW Bimotas, No not NOS, but New....The Great North Beats that track for Bimotas once more..(Thats North of Watford Gap before anyone interjects - should be safe with that one.....) Laughing Laughing

Now what work Projects do I have up near Preston......??

Yeh, I'm completely underwhelmed by the response, so its pistols at dawn for you and me to fight for "first go" on the DB7 then?

And after all my efforts, if the poor dealer gets bitten I'll have to dissappear into the undergrowth.....

Yeh understood, but the main point is no one in the Uk has any contact with the factory be it for spares or anything else, so any dealer thats brave enough to try can only be a good thing. Could you imagine a dealer that can offer finance, warranties and servicing etc for a Bimota? Can only raise the profile and awareness of the brand. Couldn't we all benefit from that? Taken as granted though if we have all now bought all the BImotas we may want that is

If they are as good as the Australian distributor/dealer then it will be good for bimota customers new and old. Fx power sports over here are doing wonders for the marque, parts are not an issue and I've never come across a dealer who goes as far and does as much for the customers as alan does. All they need to do is price correctly in the market and make people aware that they are out there. The factory is doing very well at the moment with orders for the new bikes. News I'm hearing about the DB11 & 12 make for exciting times ahead.

Cheers DJT77, thats the sort of response I was looking for, and I mirror those hopes also that any new dealer can also offer that same level.

I don't mind buying from elsewhere, Germany Italy etc, but it must be nice to have a home grown dealer that can help with frustrations and issues that has contact with the Factory. It can only help and serve to keep the Brand alive and that has to be good for everyone Laughing

I for one, find it difficult to get excited about this as I've seen it all before.
I wish them well and hope it lasts longer than previous deals.
From experiance, it won't be much use to real Bimota's but should be great for Bimchaties.
You have to understand 2bims, there are two types of Bimota and not everyone likes the new breed of Bimota badged doochatee's.
I for one, like the propper classic stuff with real engines and seat of the pants riding style Laughing

now donning my crash helmet and stab vest Wink

Ah you must be "cups half empty" kind of guy, but I know what you mean, and no need for the stab vest, not an issue for me as I do 4 cylinders also with the ZRX1100, thats hairy and seat of the pants, I do tend to swing both ways, and each to their own, makes the world more diverse and better for it. Would be nice though to be able to revert to phining your local dealer and ordering , say, a generic rear brake disc etc, and having it turn up in a week or so, evidently not as good as your friendly Forum Members service, but I do think that spares are limited and shudder at potential cost of one-off fabrications when the spares supply on ebay runs out.

Would be nice not to have to spend time ach week trawling ebay.the world looking for that elusive part, and then forgetting or missing out in the dying seconds by some sniping shark and so

I'd also welcome Bimota reverting to japanese engines especially of they fit their electrics and switchgear also, but we'll have to wait and see, maybe not in my lifetime, but would be good to see the brand continue, in whatever format, and that can only happen if they still sell bikes, for which they need dealers

Ducati for me is already getting too much dominance in the UK marketplace and not for all the right reasons, why someone would pay 24K GBP for a tri-color Pantyliner is beyond me, with all its plastic bodywork, and stickers for stripes instead of paint, but again each to their own. Personally if Bimotas were for sale in the UK, these Panyliner buyers would jump at the chance of paying similar for something hand crafted, full carbon, trick pieces etc, and is good to go from the box and more exclusive than any Ducati.

Engine config and supplier have been discussed numerous times but lets face it, until Bimota can prove they have finance to develope and dealer network to sell and maintain bikes NONE of the big four are going to risk going anywhere near them .

Unfortunately, your probably right vort and with the new breed of Bimcatis looking more like doochatees than doochatees (I love the look, I don't love doochatee technology), I think we've probably reached the point of no return.
That leaves us with two worlds of Bimota...Pre and post 2002. Unfortunately no new dealer is going to be able to help the pre 2002 Bim owner as factory spares are virtually non exsistant and the bikes their selves are now in the "classic" bracket. So, new dealer or not.....sorry no excitement for me or as 2bims pigeon holed me...glass is half empty Wink

Now...vort, where's this container with Bim bit's aboard Laughing

Container - yes, well. Although I can fill as I please, I do not organise or pay for shipping, and due to this have no control over when it will be shipped. I have been promised ' within the next few weeks' numerous times and yet nothing . Don't worry it gets mentioned alot as I have alot of money sat in a container , in a yard in Florida. Not at least all the bits for my winter projects, so I am very keen to get it here.

Further Update.

At present they have an Ex Press launch Db9 Brivado or some such, hypermotard/streetfighter, a big raggy after being dragged in and out f Vans for press use, but is their to see what Bimota Do. And as such 2 orders have already been taken.

Give it a few weeks and they plan to have a DB9SP and a DB10 and a Delirio delivered.

They are using JP Barren as the dealer for importing, who are importing but are not selling, and at present the dealership in Preston is to be the only UK Bimota Dealer. Other than that, there will not be bikes for Demonstration/riding. So bikes up there are for view before you buy....

Apparently theres a site on Facebook under BimotaUK, but me meself don't do facebook. Tried to relay this to the dealer that perhaps their target Market don't do facebook either, but heck, I'm no dealer so what do I know? Mine is a passion for Bimota not a financially driven Business
