...Any body currently using a shorai battery?

If so, How does it perform?
Is it worth the money?

Thanks in advance Wink

I've had one in an RG500 for about a year now and amazing how long it holds a charge. That bike has pretty basic electrical requirements (no electronics per se and kick only). Just put one in an Aprilia Tuono with big bore kit about four months ago. Even more impressed. Better cranking and holds a charge better than the AGM battery I had in it before and about 2/3's the size. All that said, the weight savings is the most impressive! About 7 lbs for the tuono! For me, worth every penny, but you'll have decide on the cost effectiveness. I can't think of anything on a Bimota (or most other bikes) that you could buy that would save more on a $ per pound basis. Not sure about overall life yet, but if it lasts as long as I'm told it will, that will be icing on the cake.

Ive got one in my 2007 SV650 racebike. It cranks that over just fine and seems to be very good. Once my bike wouldnt fire and it turned over the bike for a long time before it started to show any signs of the battery running out juice. Saves a lot of weight and space, 700 grams versus the 3 and a bit kilos of the standard battery. Ive been told to never let it fully discharge because that is when there will be a problem. You can buy a Shorai charger for it but my standard trickle charger works fine inbetween my race meets(4-5weeks).

They are absouletly great and from experience I can recommend the Shorai over the Ballistic. Shorai promotes its square cell difference, maybe that's it.

I did get the charger because it balances the cells perfectly. A trickle charger will work but will not balance them. Make a difference? Maybe.

The weight and longevity are good features but also, if there is not parasitic drain these will hold charge almost indefinitely.

Finally and importantly they don't like cold. Under 40f the trick is to put a draw on the cell (lights on) for a minute to heat up the battery before cranking.

I noticed in general a quicker start on my DB and better idle for some reason.
