Hi chaps
A bit back we had a thread on replacing rattly and worn disc bobbins on the brembo fully floating discs and found ones on a BMW site that were suitable replacements. Anyone point me in the direction of the thread as I cant find it and need to change them as they are well worn. thanks |

Make sure it's the bobbins that are worn not just the spring washers. Is there forward / back movement ? _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

| Hi Nige, as Evil says, check what is worn, the bobbins are harder material than the carriers and it could be the carriers on the leading edge that are impacted, you can only tell by pulling the rotor off and having a look. I am presuming that this is for the Db2??? If so the discs are like rocking horse droppings (carriers that is for the large 25mm offset), But Rudolf of Bimot-parts.de still has stock, but they ain't cheap, around 350 per pair, plus bank tansfer cost to Germany plus postage.......Don't be looking elsewhere as they just do not come up, have only found one other pair in over 2 years, and I sent those back as they were cracked. |

Wondering if these are the same as the early SB6? _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Yeh Oily, exact same as the early SB6, same rotor pattern, offset etc, easy way to tell is if they are on the 3 spoke Oscom wheels, that are labelled Bimota on each casting on each spoke, early YB's also, far chunkier re thicker carriers, which are milled from solid billet, and not cast, and with the rusty noisey cast iron rotors. The rotors you can get made, or find Early Ducati items with the same number of bobbins 12 No. as opposed to 10 that are more common, but evidently wouldn't fit. Ducat 916SPS discs are the same, but wrong rotor, but then those discs are rare also. It would actually be cheaper to fit marchesini front wheel and discs than the specific discs for the DB2 (early) early YB's and SB6's, an option I nearly went down for my DB2 as it had no discs at all when I bought it, fortunately help on here gave me the offsets (fron an early SB6) and from a DB2, thanks again to those that know
I did email Brembo several times a few years ago, still waiting for a reply.... |

You can try Mode Performance in Silverstone they should be able to make some, they do custom work.
Maybe a group order would help. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

How about.........
getting a batch of billet, 25mm offset carriers machined up with a ten bobbin fitting for the easier to get roters?

| I'd be up for that, suppose its all about the price though, easy enough with computer guided blah blah, but how much, it starts off as one heck of a chink of billet. How many of your Sb6's have Oscom wheels with cast iron rotors? |

Hello,
It's not just the bobbins, there are also the circlips, which seem to be an odd size (9.5mm?) and the crinkle washers
Cheers, MikeJ. |

Yeah, Tell me about it......
I've tried to source a bulk of crinkle washers because I think they are the MAIN culprit. Guess what...non standard size so a minimum order of 10,000 _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)
