I agree with all your points Geekay, I just think for those very reasons they wont be seen on this site unless advised to... I'm not sure I want new owners, I want less buyers for the few older bikes left Shocked Wink

Look a bit stupid announcing themselves on the Bimota Forum when they only have 1 bike in the UK, and thats not for sale (yet)! Imagine if they did, and several prospective buyers asked for a test ride / dealer information - what can they tell them at this moment in time?
I'm sure that if / when they have established a (albeit small) network of dealers, they will announce themselves to the biking press and, quite possibly, interested Bimotisti elsewhere. I will ensure that any dealer local to me will have our forum address and invite them to introduce themselves.
As for not wanting new owners - where did you get your DB5 from? Not a great choice of bikes here in the UK, is there? Like to guess why? Plenty for sale in Italy and Germany - the new Bims of today are our "classics" in years to come.
You should be grateful that someone is trying to raise the awareness of our beloved product. I am sorely tempted to sell every bike I own and buy that DB8 - its bloody gorgeous!!

You are of course right we would look a bit silly although we do have two bikes now! A DB9 as well!!

We are in the very early stages of setting this up. The target will be for only about 4 dealers throughout the country.

Nice to see that some people think Barrus is a big corporate monster! Hardly Shocked

Anyway I will keep you all posted when there is more info available. I may run the bike over to Squires at some point though.

With enough notice and a support vehicle maybe even a few of us Northern boys may be able to make it there also.
And Oily may be able to bring an SB6 or two Laughing

Welcome aboard BimotaUK - good of you to take the time to explain the current situation to us. Sorry about spelling your name wrongly in the first post - bad guess on my part! Very Happy
Is the DB9 making an appearance at Appleyard's in Leeds soon? Would like to go have a look at that bike too.
And I volunteered for the odious task of debuting the DB8 at Squires - so wait your turn and join the queue Very Happy
Please keep us updated with progress on the distribution side - I'm pretty sure there's a (small) niche market out there, waiting to be tapped into.
Big thumbs up from me

No problem I will try to keep you all posted.

The DB9 and the DB8 will both be at the BMF this weekend.

Welcome BimotaUK.
It would appear your marketing of Bimota is a bit different to the last importer .
Hopefully getting the bikes out for the masses to see will pay off and make people more aware of Bimota.
Any exposure can only be a good thing after all.

No news on anything other than Ducati engines I am afraid. However when I get more info I will try to post on here first.

ahhh, I had a blonde moment and thought we had gone back in time with this post. The last one was UKbimota and this one is BimotaUK ...

Anyway, just to reassure you all I was only joking about the new buyers, however, why only have Ducati based models? You are pitching to an already niche market for a niche product when ducatisti have the same passion as Harley riders for just the one make. I doubt success of any scale will be achieved until they either pay the japs what they want for engines or offer running gear kits that you put your own engine in.

Ah, I see ...............

No new plans then, just continuing with the re-badged, overpriced Ducati's Laughing

Hi

I would be more worried that Audi will stop Ducati from supplying engines to Bimota.

All the best

Keith
