Did the Bimota SB6R's ever come with Pirrelli Tyres fitted as standard?

All the literature and pics I have seen show Michelin TL's.

Although I guess a smaller producers like Bimota may have swapped and changed tyres to take account of current deals and trends.

Not that many people to ask - just looking around this forum apparently about 1300 built but looking at the photos pages most owners seem to have about 10 each so that's about 130 people who may be able to help! Smile

1300 built of one model, maybe (Mostly in Oileys Stable Laughing ), 10-20,000 in total perhaps, although you seem to be right about your second comment, more addicative than crack cocaine, and expenditure similar Laughing

There were a lot fewer SB6R's than 1300.
I think they counted the frames for the SB6, SB7 and SB6R all together to reach 1300 ... then rounded up.

You could try some of the magazine articles of the day, they usually mention the tyre types

Yes I was counting all the SB6's at 1300 - maybe about 600 6R's? I may well be wrong!

Looked at a few SB6R tests in the old mags, and the original brochures - all showing Michelins.

The mags tend to test the early bikes, which would agree with the brochures.

So maybe only 60 owners of these machines at a rate of 10 each Laughing

Welcome to the forum, my question, in the most polite way possible is why would you like to know? You seldom see a road test on any bike from any manufacturer where they dont mention the crap tyres and how good it would be on something else... All the tyres from the 90's have changed beyond all recognition and each make suits different styles for different riders. If you ride then use the tyre you prefer no matter what the bike. If you stick it in a museum then maybe, just maybe, it would be nice to know?

I think..............
Much like the mainstream brands of the day, you could do a deal with the supplier and have whatever tyres you preferred, within reason.
The last thing on the mind of the majority of buyers, due to a mixture of excitement and nausea at forking out that much money, would be to do a deal on tyres hence the majority of bikes being supplied with the factory's choice of tyres

I have the original brochure (from a bike show in th 90's - mmm bit of a horder confession!) which states Michelins, and have a mag road test from the same time (the hording looking worse!) stating the same. But these were the earlier built bikes.

Was wondering if anyone on here took delivery of a later bike, or bought a very low milage example, with anything different fitted.
